SEASONAL FLU VACCINE 2020/2021

We are now administering the flu vaccine to eligible persons in Primrose Gate Medical Centre.

The eligibility criteria for a free vaccine has been extended this year to include children aged 2 – 12 years, adults under the age of 65 who are in an at-risk group and teenagers in an at-risk group.

We are taking precautions in the surgery to keep patients and staff safe and to minimise the risk of infection at this time.

Children aged 2-12

Children aged 2-12 will be able to avail of the new nasal flu vaccine free of charge.

We have adequate stock of this vaccine.

Adult Flu Vaccine

The flu vaccine is available and free to the following at-risk groups :

  • Aged 65+
  • Healthcare Workers
  • Pregnant Women
  • Those with chronic conditions eg. lung, heart, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, neurological disorders, morbid obesity (BMI >40)
  • Household contacts/carers of medically at-risk groups
  • Those with immunosuppression due to disease or treatment
  • Those with Down’s Syndrome

Private Flu Vaccines

At present we have no private stock of flu vaccine and are unsure if such a stock will be available to us this year.  Our current stock is provided by the HSE and is for children aged 2-12 years and adults and teenagers in an at-risk group.
